Topdressing
Topdressing the turf surface with fine, good draining sand helps to control thatch build-up in the turf. The turf loves to have a new medium to grow in. You will immediately notice a rich healthy colour, and the field or playing surface will be a lot more level as a result of filling in any divets. Maccas have a selection of top-dressing units capable of spreading up to 300m cubic metres per day, and have access to small or large quantities of sand. (see above photo)
Fertilising
Fertilising is not to be overlooked when it comes to renovation or preparation of your turf. While some agricultural type fertilizers have a place in the turf industry, the slow release turf fertilizers last much longer and are designed to improve the root zone of the turf. Most of the standard fertilisers only last for a few weeks whereas the slow release types last up to 24 weeks. Maccas can supply all types of fertilizers for all types of turf at very competitive rates. Annual soil analysis is recommended and we can arrange for samples to be laboratory tested.
Chemical Spraying
Chemical Spraying is a subject many people are very wary of, however at Maccas we use only herbicides and insecticides that have been registered for use on turf (i.e. nothing designed specifically for agricultural use). All the products that we use are also of the latest manufacture and are totally environmentally safe. Maccas have a Ground Distribution Contractor Spray License and all operators are fully trained in chemical use and hold Commercial Spray Operator Licenses. For the safe and effective control of crowsfoot, summer grass, sedges, nutgrass, buffalo grass and many more weeds just contact us. We also have a very efficient weed wiper for the control of the troublesome wire grass.
